We’re Back!

This Sunday we will be moving back into the Smithton Church building for worship services. Thank you to all who have made this possible, from the builders and architects to the volunteers who came in to help with the kitchen, chairs, etc.

Though our “official” launch is Sunday 20 March, we will no longer be worshipping in the school. There are still a few finishing touches to be put on the building, but we are looking forward to being back.

Just a few notes on activities/programmes that are on at the church:

  • New Saturday Café: A new café will be starting at the church on 19 March to take place every Saturday from 10:30am-12pm. Cost is free and all are welcome.
  • Sunday School: We will having Sunday school for Preschool-P7 this Sunday, beginning a new curriculum from Go Teach.
  • Youth Fellowship: YF will be in church building (in the hall where worship services used to be held) each Sunday at 7:30pm.
  • Pop-In Centre: The Pop-In will resume this week on Wednesday at 10am. Join us for games led by Alan Michael, tea and coffee, baking, and a soup lunch. Cost is just £2.
  • Seniors Lunch ClubFriday Fun Club, and Fun Time Toddlers will all resume after the Easter holidays.

Building Construction Nearly Complete

The building construction, which commenced 12 July 2010, will be coming to completion tomorrow, Friday, 18 February 2011. The contract period of the construction was 32 weeks, and we are delighted with the work that has been done. Charlie and Ethan are moving back into their office space (Charlie is quite relieved to be out of the portacabin!), and the finishing touches are being made.

Services in the “new” building will begin next Sunday. 27 February, at 11am and 6pm. The official re-opening will be Sunday, 20 March, with the Rev Alisdair I. Macleod, St. Andrews, preaching.

Online Appeal

Many have asked if they could donate towards specific items, and, therefore, we have compiled a list. These are items not included in contract price and yet so essential for a church.

A great way to give is through online donation* or through the old fashioned way of sending us a cheque.

Please proceed here to read the list.

Prayer Meeting Back at Smithton

Just a reminder that our Wednesday evening prayer meetings are now being held at Smithton Church in the sports hall, 7:30pm. We are no longer at St Mary in the Fields.

Weather Cancellations

Due to the inclement weather and the situation in the car park, there will only be Sunday and Wednesday worship services until 24 January. All clubs, youth gatherings, etc. are closed until that time.
We hope you enjoy this time with your family, and make sure you stay safe on the roads!
