A farewell to the Minister

Where do we start?  If you have been with us over the farewell weekend, you will know how those close to the Merediths feel about them and the deep privilege it has been to know and serve with them.

We won’t repeat all that has been said but from the Sunday school kids, youth, members, deacons and elders it was a special weekend to look back on 31 years faithful of service.  An interview was led by Robin Gray speaking with David as they reflected on his time at Smithton.  Watch it below.

On Sunday, 27th of September 2015,  David led his final services as minister of Smithton Free Church and rewound the tape.  Preaching from Nehemiah 2, the first passage he spoke from at Smithton 31 years ago, he reassured us that he wasn’t using the same notes!

David’s ministry here at Smithton has been wonderfully fruitful and we thank God for it, and we also know that his ministry has been spread across Scotland, the U.K and even the rest of the world.  His sermons have been listened to and watched online for a number of years now, with over 451 audio sermons available online and there are more than 100 people on average listen per sermon.  Figures are not important but these are impressive and to quote our friends from South Uist, Scotland, ‘May God have all the glory’.

What a weekend and ‘May God have all the glory’.
