Some of our groups are taking a break over the school October holidays but there is always something on.

On Wednesday we have our ‘Pop-In’ group for over 55’s, running from 10:30-15:00. Then in the evening we have our prayer meeting; where we meet for prayer, discussions and tea and coffee! Come along to the church for a 19:30 start.

What’s on this week at Smithton?

There is never a dull moment at the church and this week is no different.

Fun Time Toddlers is on Monday and Tuesday from 10:00-11:30am for adults to chat and toddlers to play.  Tuesday we have The Lunch Club from 12:30-13:30 and on Wednesday from 10:00-15:30 we have our Pop-In.  They are both for any senior (over 55) within our community to come, spend time with others and enjoy a hot meal.

Release International will meet on Tuesday at 19:00 at the church.  This is an opportunity to get up to date information of persecution around the world of the Christian church.

Wednesday evening we will meet together for our Prayer meeting at 19:30.  With a short talk, a time for prayer for our church, community and global matters and of course tea and coffee.  We would love to see more along to our Prayer meetings coming together as one family – especially over the up and coming months of vacancy.

Dead Chuffed (D.C) is our club for guys aged 12-18, 19:30-21:00 on Thursday at the church. A chance for guys to get together, play sport and enjoy time spent with one another. Grab a friend, your indoor shoes and get along!  Keep updated on our Youth at Smithton page.

Sunday at Smithton – 20th September

As always we have a busy Sunday ahead of us.

In the morning David will be leading the service as we look at Luke 11:5-13, entitled ‘Ask, seek and knock’.  We have creche facilities available for children up to the age of 3 during the service, run by volunteers from our church.  At the same time we run a Sunday club for children aged 3 to Primary 7; a chance for children to play games, sing and be taught from the Bible.

Stay around for tea and coffee after both services for a chance to meet with friends and meet visitors.

At 13:00 we move into week 4 of Christianity Explored and continue our study of Mark, looking at ‘The Cross’.  We have space for more people so please feel free to come along.

Then in the evening we will be lead through Acts 10:1-9, with the title ‘Keep on’.

Following the evening service, our Youth at Smithton group meet from 19:30 until 21:00; playing games, eating food and discussing ‘Who is God – the Holy Spirit?’.  So if you are between the age of 12 and 18, why not come along?

Sunday at Smithton

This Sunday David is preaching at both the morning and evening services. In the morning his sermon is from Mark 9:7 on the subject ‘This is my son….listen to him’ At our six o’clock service David will be returning to his mini series….Finishing well. The sermon title this week is ‘Finishing well…passing it on’ from Acts 8:26-40.

After the morning service we have our Christianity Explored group; session 3 this week. It has been a great group of folk who have been coming along, approximately a dozen folk around two tables wishing to know more about the Christian faith. There have been loads of questions and lots of interaction with each other. If you want to come along but not signed up, don’t worry just pop in. It starts at 1pm with a light lunch in the cafe/lounge.

What’s on this week at Smithton Church?

Another busy week at Smithton with something for everyone!

Every Monday we will attach a link to a group who regularly use the church building.  This week we would like to mention ‘Enjoy-a-Ball‘ and ‘Physi-ball‘.  These clubs cater for boys and girls from 18 months to 9 years old.  As the name might suggest, both clubs are a multi-sports programme with a great emphasis on fun!  A joint enterprise run by two sisters, Jenna and Louise Clark, and their award winning team who run multiple events throughout the week in the games hall.  Get in touch with Jenna or Louise to book a birthday party and to book into a club (07840496940).

Sunday at Smithton – 6th September

What a week! Transforming Scotland on Monday and the ETS Roadshow on Wednesday.

On Sunday we have David leading the morning and evening service, which start at 11:00 and 18:00.

AM

We will be looking at Luke 7, entitled ‘He even forgives sins’.  All the services are available via our ‘Phone Ministry‘ service, allowing the ill and elderly to listen into the services on their phones from home.

Christianity Explored

Week 2 of Christianity Explored will start at 13:00, 30 minutes earlier than last week.  Looking at ‘Who is Jesus?’ and his identity.  So come along at 13:00 for your lunch and then we’ll start the meeting with looking at the follow up questions from the previous week.

Harvest Thanksgiving Meeting

This meeting will start at 16:45 prompt for those that have signed up for the Harvest Thanksgiving events with the schools.  Bring along your diaries, phones and notebooks.

Our passage will be Acts 8, with the title ‘Finishing well… with a big vision’.  So come along, we look forward to seeing you.

Youth at Smithton

The youth (11-18 years old) start of this term of by looking at ‘God the Father’ as they go through a series looking at ‘Who is God?…’ with Rebecca leading the evening.  Fun, food and fellowship are all part of the evening as we look forward to seeing you there.

Sunday at Smithton – 30th August

This Sunday morning at Smithton, David will be taking us through Matthew 11:1-19 with his title ‘Dance or dirge but you still say “no”‘.

Since the school holidays are over, Sunday School will be available for Primary 1-7 and Creche for nursery and younger.  Stay around for coffee and tea after the service to see friends and meet new people.

Christianity Explored will be starting at 13:30 in the Cafe/Lounge in the church, after the morning service.  Lunch will be served for all those attending at 13:30 sharp.

In the evening after the service, our Youth will be starting this term by meeting with youth groups from around Inverness at Muir of Ord Free Church.

 

“One life. What’s it all about?”

Starting on Sunday 30th August, we are going to be running a ‘Christianity Explored’ Course for seven weeks, at 13:30 until 15:00 in the cafe/lounge at church.  We have 17 people already signed up for the course and we are look forward to getting started with everyone.  It kicks off with a light lunch and then we move into the meeting with a short video.

The course answers big questions in an informal meeting.  There will be time to ask questions with a leader in a safe environment, where the only stupid question is the one which is not asked.

It will take us through one of the books in the bible, Mark.  You can start reading it now here or find it in a Bible, in the New Testament.

Sunday at Smithton

At Smithton we have two regular services each Sunday 11am and 6pm. The services contains a mixture of singing, prayer, reading the Bible and a talk explaining the passage of the Bible we are currently studying. We welcome everyone to our church – young or old, single or married and from all nations and backgrounds whether you’ve been a Christian for some time or just want to explore what faith involves. Our aim is that everyone who comes to Smithton will hear the message of the Bible clearly taught.

Children are very welcome and there is a créche room with audio feed from the service available.  We serve refreshments after the main service so you can meet and get to know us.

On Sunday David Meredith is back in the pulpit and will be preaching from Matthew 10:6 his sermon title being ‘Marching Orders’. In the evening he will be preaching from Acts:13:45-48 on the topic ‘good churches have….sermons!’
